Must-see show - Zurich Design Weeks in Switzerland

Once a year, the Swiss capital city of Zürich explodes in a celebration of innovation and creativity. The Zurich Design Weeks represent the largest multidisciplinary design event in Switzerland and one of the most anticipated design events in all of Europe. Across the city, various galleries, studios, and shops host displays from top brands and both established and emerging designers. Speeches, workshops, and tours are held to educate the public on the importance and role of design in modern society.

2025 marks the fourth edition of the Zurich Design Weeks festival. Running for 11 days from the 4th to the 14th of September, this year’s Zurich Design Weeks places a focus on collaboration and innovation with its ‘Team Up’ theme.

Zurich Design Weeks is an unmissable event for anyone who has even a passing interest in the importance of design in architecture, fashion, media, or product design.

Zurich Design Weeks – a short history

Now firmly established as Switzerland's premier design festival, Zurich Design Weeks was first launched in 2022. The event was initiated by the Design Biennale Zürich and Archithema Verlag with support from the City of Zurich's urban development department.

The stated aim of Zurich Design Weeks is to unite various design disciplines, such as architecture, product design, visual communication, fashion, and interior design under one event. Organisers wished to highlight the role of design in society, the economy, and the environment. The festival also acts to position Zurich as a central hub for design innovation and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration.

Showcasing the best emerging and established designers

Zurich Design Weeks features works from emerging talents and renowned European design studios. This blend of fresh perspectives and established expertise makes the festival a vibrant source of visual and conceptual inspiration.

Some of the key events in this year's festival include:

  • Neue Räume: An International Interior Design Exhibition shown at Halle 550 in Zurich-Oerlikon. This flagship event presents the very latest interior design concepts and products.
  • Circular Circuit: An initiative that seeks to explore circular design principles with exhibitions and discussions on sustainable practices.
  • Poster Safari: One of the most eagerly anticipated events, Poster Safari is an augmented reality exhibition with works from various designers. Artworks with interactive visual narratives will be displayed in various public spaces across Zürich.
  • Design Biennale Zürich: Celebrating its fifth edition concurrently with Zurich Design Weeks, the Design Biennale Zürich features experimental and immersive installations. The 2025 Design Biennale Zürich will be held in the Old Botanical Garden.

Sparking conversations about sustainable design

In this year’s Zurich Design Weeks, many of the installations and talks will emphasise the importance of sustainability in materials and production. A major focus of the “Team Up” theme is the concept of multidisciplinary collaboration as a catalyst for developing innovative and responsible design solutions.

The festival's signature visual is a modular green cube composed of smaller cubes. This represents the idea that collective efforts can lead to sustainable outcomes. The emphasis on sustainability presents a clear thematic connection with Antalis’s core values and our commitment to eco-conscious paper selections.
