Valentine’s Day is a wonderful time of year to celebrate our love of paper. After all, it is ingrained into every aspect of our daily lives. Paper has been an essential communication medium for 2,000 years. Even in today’s digital world, paper continues to be the preferred format for readers of books, magazines and newspapers and for brand owners to communicate about their products and services in a more qualitative manner.
Love Paper is a campaign, ran by paper advocacy group Two Sides, that informs consumers of the positive stories about print, paper and paper packaging. Antalis have been a proud and supportive member of Two Sides for many years.
We both love everything about paper, from its environmental credentials to its ability to improve mental well-being, learning and enhance creativity. In fact, there aren’t many industries around that can aspire to become genuinely sustainable. The paper industry, however, is one of them.
European forests, which provide
wood for making paper,
have been growing by over
1,500 football pitches every day!
60% of the energy used to produce
paper and paper packaging in Europe
comes from renewable sources.
72% of paper and paper packaging
is recycled into new products;
one of the highest recycling rates
of any material in Europe.
We want to ensure that print and paper remains one of the most powerful and sustainable forms of communication, and the preferred and sustainable way to pack and protect, for many generations to come.
The website (lovepaper.org) provides the facts about sustainable forestry, how paper is made from natural and renewable materials, its high recycling rate, as well as a range of fun activities with paper and card for families to get some important digital downtime.
The logo can be used by publishers on their printed books, magazines and newspapers, as well as brands on their paper-based communications and packaging to help explain the sustainable nature their choices.
At Antalis, we decided to team-up with paper artists from www.pa-paperart.com to make a box out of the Love Paper heart, made from a selection of fine Creative Papers within Antalis' ranges.
We welcome printers and publishing houses to become involved and use the Love Paper logo in their own communications to help spread this vital message. To find out more about the campaign:
