The Paper Artist Collective
Making a difference
Through art and art therapy, the Art Refuge charity supports the mental health and well-being of people displaced due to conflict, persecution and poverty – in the UK and Internationally. The idea to produce a charity calendar came in response to the sense of isolation and loss felt by many during the pandemic. The work of Art Refuge was therefore a natural fit for the collective. The calendar is the first project for which the collective’s members have produced work specifically to be photographed and printed, so it was highly important that the choice of the print substrate was capable of reproducing the intricacies of the paper art.
The Solution
The printing of the calendar was sponsored by Service Graphics. Andy Cummins, Business Development, at Service Graphics Creative Production, worked with Antalis Paper Consultant Charlotte Harvey to select a paper that would meet all the criteria. Sammie Quinn, who helps run the collective, felt it was also important that the calendar had a tactile feel and together they decided upon iPrint Digital Uncoated in 200gsm, an FSC certified premium white, woodfree uncoated paper, which provides a superb printing surface and is guaranteed for HP Indigo digital as well as colour laser printing.
The Results
The beautiful Paper Artist Collective 2022 calendar was printed on a Xerox Iridesse and drilled and hand bound with white wire. It is available in a 220 x 250mm to order from the Collective’s online shop. All proceeds will go to Art Refuge.
