A rental product company with more than 20 years of experience and present in more than 40 countries was receiving a large number of damaged returns. Our experts at Antalis found a solution.

The client

Milesman, a manufacturer and seller of compact diode lasers for permanent hair removal, has more than 20 years of experience and operates in more than 40 countries. They supply equipment to end customers, usually on a rental or lease basis.

This means that once the contracts are over, customers have to return the equipment – which is where the problems arose:  due to improper packaging during transport, the brand was receiving a huge amount of broken items, especially the laser lens parts.

The challenge

Milesman turned to Antalis to solve this problem. They needed a type of packaging that would work both as easy storage for the customer and as a container for the equipment during returns.

The Antalis solution

The Antalis Packaging Team developed a recycled non-cross-linked polyethylene foam mould that offers optimum protection of the entire product, especially the lens. It is not only cost-effective, but also eco-responsible, as it can be reused and recycled.

The process

  • 1. Exploration: The customer raised a need with us, so one of our packing team members visited their company to learn about the case.

  • 2. Proposal: Antalis, together with a supplier, designed a cost-effective solution that is easy to use by third parties. It involves using recycled non-cross-linked polyethylene foam in the shape of the product, allowing it to be stored in the same box that it came in, which facilitates returns when the rental contracts end.

  • 3. Test: Both a drop test and a vibration resistance test were conducted for the client, proving that the product remained safe (with zero breakage) during standard return transport.

  • 4. Implementation: Following the success of these tests, the packaging was implemented at the customer's facility and resulted in the mass-reduction of broken material during returns.
