Re-fabricating circular solutions with textiles

Trucks full of clothes are emptied onto landfill sites every single day, with an estimated 92 million tonnes of textile waste created every year globally. A shocking reality that could increase to a whopping 134 million tonnes by 2030, according to the 2017 Pulse of the Fashion Industry Report. This linear economy also creates a total greenhouse gas emission of 1.2 billion tonnes per year (more than international flights and maritime shipping combined) and concerning levels of microplastic pollution, representing 16 times that emanating from cosmetics ('A new textiles economy: redesigning fashion's future', Ellen MacArthur Foundation, 2017).

At Antalis, we want to help make a difference and we believe that it's possible to create viable alternatives to virgin plastic. By creating circular economies, we hope to limit the strain on natural resources and offer plastic alternatives for our customers.

Decoflex-R is a perfect example of a fabric-based textile that can be used for internal and external front-lit displays. Made of 100% recycled yarn, it is completely free from PVC, heavy metals, phthalates and plasticizers. Unlike similar materials, it is manufactured in Europe - minimising its carbon footprint - and is Din-4102 (B1) and Euroclass EN 13501-1 (B-s1-d0)  fire rated, meeting building regulations. Decoflex-R is rated 4 stars in the Antalis Green Star System™.

We believe that circular economies are a positive and transformative approach to changing our world. Antalis will continue to strive to raise awareness about global climate change and support our customers in making the right choices for themselves and the planet.
