Demand for sustainably produced goods is growing in the UK. Consumers are becoming better informed and more concerned about the environmental provenance of the goods they buy. Increasingly, companies who produce paper and packaging products are keen to demonstrate their corporate social and environmental responsibility commitments by developing a credible paper procurement policy. Financial institutions are also increasingly using credible corporate social responsibility reporting to assess financial risk profiles and lending status.
Corporate environmental policies often encourage the use of recycled materials or, when virgin fibre is used, seek to ensure that it originates from legal and sustainable sources. One of the easiest ways of demonstrating that virgin fibre comes from responsibly managed forests is to source it from forests that have been independently certified against a credible forest management certification scheme. Products should also be tracked through the supply chain using chain of custody certification at every stage of processing. To view our Environmental Products Guide 2008 click here.
