Calendars

Calendars provide the ideal opportunity to highlight your company, its products and services and the image you want to portray for a full 12 months. Getting it right provides a cost effective way of advertising your company or product(s) for a whole year.

Things to keep in mind:

  •  Think about the papers and boards you will use for each month. Over the years, a range of papers and boards have been developed which are ideal for calendars and mixing and matching these can have a huge impact on how your calendar will look and feel.
  •  If you only want a small quantity, digital print is the answer and, because so many papers and boards have been developed in recent years for this purpose, the standards of quality achieved can be extremely high.
  •  How you finish your calendar will help it to stand out and incorporating a varnish on the front and/or inside pages, foil blocking or embossing could make a big difference to the way people perceive your company. If the content and messages are important to you, then it is well worth the additional cost of incorporating one or more of these finishes into your calendar.
  •  If your calendar contains lots of coloured images, the type of paper you use will influence the finished look. Gloss papers give the best results, but if you want to be more creative then silk or even modern, uncoated papers will deliver outstanding results.
  •  Cost should also be factored in, to help you decide if you are producing a premium, designer or mass market calendar and you can then plan its content, print and finish to suit your company, the product and your budget.
  •  If you are planning to post your calendar, then you need to keep in mind weight and dimensions of the envelope, as size, thickness and weight will impact on the cost of postage.
  •  Are environmental credentials important? If so, there are a variety of paper options to help you meet this need.
  • Vibrant

Colour reproduction is important where photographs or other full colour images are used. Mix in the range of papers to use – gloss, silk, uncoated – and the importance of paper choice starts to take shape. If you are unsure about which one to use, ask your local sales team for printed samples.

  • Digital Print

Papers for digital print are becoming more widely available. However, if you are using HP Indigo machines the papers you use will need to have a special coating. It is always safer to check if the paper(s) you are proposing to use is certified for these machines. Ask our sales desk if you are unsure about anything - they are pleased to help.

  • Contrast

You may decide to use a different weight for the front sheet compared with those of the other leaves making up each month. Decide if you want them to match or, if you want to be a little different, why not mix papers to provide a contrast. Don’t forget, it is going to be used for a whole year, so you need to keep it interesting.

  • Envelopes

Special all board envelopes have been developed over the years to suit calendar sizes. There are other envelopes available to meet a variety of sizes. Why not think about the envelope sizes and shapes available and design your calendar around one of these?
